BAS Supervision

Helping bookkeepers work towards registration.

After more than 20 years working in bookkeeping we are pleased to be expanding our services at Absolutely Scrupulous Bookkeeping & Management Pty Ltd.

I’m now offering BAS supervision for bookkeepers and accounting professionals who are working towards registration and require BAS lodgement oversight.

This service provides structured support, including:

  • BAS/IAS review and approval
  • Guidance on GST and compliance
  • Practical, real-world support based on experience

All supervision is provided in line with the requirements of the Tax Practitioners Board, with a focus on maintaining high standards and clear accountability.

I see this as a natural extension of what I already do — supporting not just businesses, but also fellow professionals building their capability and confidence.  Helping grow the profession in Australia to keep the high standards we currently have.  This service can be offered Australia wide.

If you’re a bookkeeper or CPA in Australia looking for compliant BAS supervision, I’m happy to have a confidential conversation to see if we’re the right fit.  From my experience the Cert 1V in bookkeeping leaves a lot of students confused about the next steps about how to become a BAS agent after achieving their qualification.  I can help you fill that gap.

“This service is offered to a limited number of professionals to ensure appropriate supervision and support.”

“Interested in working together and being mentored by our team?”

Send us a quick email outlining:

  • Your experience
  • Software used (e.g. Xero)
  • Whether you have existing clients

I always respond within promtly with any queries you may have about enrolling with Absolutely Scrupulous Bookkeeping & Management Pty Ltd for BAS supervision.

BAS Agent FAQ’s

What does the ideal applicant for the BAS Supervision Program look like?

This program is for independent bookkeepers who aim to become registered BAS agents.

You run your own bookkeeping business, service your own clients, and we provide the supervision and compliance oversight regulated and required by the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB).

We understand that once your Cert 1V of bookkeeping is now complete there are a lot of gaps.  This is where we also come into the picture with providing assistance to you with your questions and guiding you to achieve your BAS agent registration.

What makes this company a great BAS supervisor?

We understand the difficulties with the process involved and the real-world challenges of gaining BAS hours while running your bookkeeping business.  With over 20 years of experience in the industry we have a wealth of knowledge to share.

Our supervision is supportive and designed to suit your individual needs.  Helping you to be compliant and achieve your BAS agent status is the end goal.

How does BAS supervision work?

The supervision process is to ensure that your work is compliant and completed with accuracy to be able to achieve the outcome of becoming a BAS agent.  Contact us for more information.

  • A BAS provision hours tracking spreadsheet to log your 1,000  hours (1400 hours if you are not registered with ICB or ABN).
  • Communication via appointments using Zoom, email or phone for reviews and questions.
How are my BAS hours tracked?

You’ll use our tracking spreadsheet (or your own time-tracking software) to record all hours worked on BAS-related tasks.

How does invoicing and revenue work?

You bill your clients directly and keep 100% of your bookkeeping revenue. Our company charges you for only supervision and lodgement fees.

Any lodgement fees charged to the client are billed and retained by the supervising BAS agent. They are your client.

Do I need to have my own clients?

To gain the practical experience required by the TPB, you need to be servicing your own clients.

If you’re just starting out and still building your client base you can focus on building your business and getting new clients in alignment with working toward becoming a BAS agent.

Who owns the client relationship?

You do 100%.   You continue to communicate directly with your clients. We only contact your client if you’ve given written consent and it is necessary.

Do I need insurance?

Yes. You must maintain your own Professional Indemnity insurance as required by the TPB. This protects both you and your clients.

Is there a contract term?

No. We offer a flexible month-to-month arrangement. You’re free to join or leave as needed with a 30 day termination notice period. But as we have stated the goal is to get you registered as a BAS agent and then be able to do ALL the work yourself!
